History
Shri chothmal ji Burad
Mangalmayee is a name that is associated with the royalties since generations. A house associated with class, culture, finess and revival ..Originally known as Harakchand Nandlal Chothmal Zariwal was founded by our great fore father Harakchandji Burad who started this legacy of making exclusive poshaks for the royalties since 1911!This legacy of more than a century is truly a continuous art history ,where each one passed something special to his inheritor.
His association with the royal households, understanding of their culture, and tradition and close observation of their dressing style helped in the establishment of “Harakchand Zariwala”, the house gained overnight popularity among the Rajputs for crafting exquisite rajputi poshaks suitable for the royals. In 1945, Mr. Nandlalji Burad took the helm of the establishment from his father and helped strengthen the mutual trust by giving better service.
It was Mr. Chouthmalji Burad who initiated the process of preserving the old textiles and embroidery. Earlier these uniquely crafted clothes were either traded or burnt for money when worn out, without considering the gravity of loss recurred by the craftsmen or even the society.
Close ties and trust among the Burad family and the royal families, made the business grow and flourish over the years.
Taking it forward, Sandeep Burad, the present owner and 4th generation of the founder, renamed the establishment as Mangalmayee. Mangalmayee, a brand where the craftsmen not only create new beautiful and intricate designs but move a step forward in restoring the rich embroideries and woven designs on old heirloom/ antique pieces by “transferring” the intricate works onto new modern fabric without changing its original essence.
