About Burad's
In the narrow bylanes and colourful alleys, amidst the chaos of Jaipur’s old bazaar lives a 108 year old legacy, Mangalmayee. Founded in 1911, they have been connoisseurs in creating rajasthani traditional attire, catering to the royal families of Northern India. The store is a treasury to collection of beautiful sarees and intricate poshaks, hand dyed in innumerable shades of colours and handcrafted with the finest needle work of aari, zardozi, gotta patti and danka. Going through numerous processes, some of these bespoke poshaks take about 45 days to be completed.
It is Sandeep who realized that it was just not preservation but also restoration which is important He gave the rajputi poshak, traditional Rajasthani four piece attire, a new definition by constantly recreating the old patterns in new styles. Sandeep Burad has also restored some stunning heirlooms for the royal families with their special revival technique of transfer work. In the present day, Mangalmayee crafts its intricate poshak and sarees in traditional embroideries of zardosi, gota patti, benarsi, real silver embroidery, meenakari work, tarkashi, badla work and real danka work. These needle works have lost their true value and identity over the passage of time but the team at Mangalmayee is constantly working towards providing the crafts and its craftsmen due respect by preserving as well as creating and recreating poshaks in the same finesse.
